For over three decades Anna Finlayson’s art practice has incorporated drawing, painting, wall and floor based sculptural forms and assemblages together with site-specific installation.

Finlayson’s recent studio explorations have resulted in several new bodies of drawings as well as returning to her roots as a painter in the production of small-scale acrylic paintings on wooden panels. These new, small-scale works incorporate ongoing interests in the exploration of colour, pattern, illusionistic space and repetition. Finlayson’s tangential investigations borrow from and juxtapose concepts and imagery derived from an ongoing conversation with the broad history of Abstraction; ranging from post minimalism, process art and mid 20^th century geometric abstraction to contemporary discourses.
