Out of the Blue
04.04.18 – 21.04.18

Out of the Blue is a body of works that examine the reactionary process of making through chance and improvisation.

Using formal strategies such as line, colour, and gesture, Biggs’s practice investigates the spatial and durational qualities of painting. Biggs’s works are quick and responsive to their own materiality. Splashes, scratches, and smudges accumulate on the surface immediately and without hesitation. The accumulation of direct, rough and abrasive marks hint at a method of questioning the endless possibilities of working intuitively. Out of the Blue presents an ongoing material exploration that floats between mediums, highlighting a series of approaches that examine the accumulation of time, touch and gesture in contemporary abstraction.

Georgia Biggs is a Melbourne based artist practicing in painting. Biggs graduated from RMIT University in 2017 with First Class Honours.
