WOW
20.02.19 – 09.03.19

Analogue techniques and ritualistic processes mine institutional archives and oft-overlooked imagery. Banal and disparate moments build deeply layered reconstructions. Drawing on local histories, WOW generates discussions of time, place and gender as elusive qualities are formed by complex layering of historical imagery and the process of making. WOW, women of the west were sourced from the Living Museum of the West’s photographic collection. Working women of the Industrial era have been re-photographed, re-printed and re-photographed again. The rigorous and systematic process each is subject to; transforms the image into a timeless placeless form. The expansion and contractions of the works questions the very fabric of the photographic form itself.
