AC4CA
The Orange Path and Selected Works
August 2nd – 24th, 2024
The Australian Centre for Concrete Art – Orange Path and Selected Works The AC4CA was founded in 2001 to ‘establish a national/international foundation which promotes artistic activities relating to the guiding principles of the international movement known as Concrete Art. The general principles of Concrete Art reflect an emphasis on the material basis of art making, non-representation, purity/singularity and a focus on the process of construction’. Since its inception the AC4CA has grown into an international network of artists holding regular collaborative exhibitions in and outside Australia and continuing to foster public wall-works. The cross-generational and international composition of membership attests to the currency of the group’s interest in, and the nature of, contemporary Concrete Art. The AC4CA has managed to evolve in a way that reflects its opportunities and possibilities while staying true to the initial intention of supporting and presenting neo-Concrete Art in the public domain. This clear intention continues to direct and drive its activities. The AC4CA has made 37 large wall projects, held, and participated in 11 exhibitions and produced 3 folios of prints by its members. It is recognised internationally and nationally as a Perth-based group operating within the international networks of Concrete Art. This project at Five Walls displays the AC4CA’s third print folio (Orange Path) and presents work by eight members of the group: four from Perth, three currently living in Sydney and one from Melbourne. Artists: Julian Goddard, George Howlett, Jeremy Kirwan-Ward, Andrew Leslie, Trevor Richards, Helen Smith, Alex Spremberg and Jurek Wybraniec. Website: https://ac4ca.net
