Structured Visions II Catalogue

Structured Visions II presents twelve artists from Australia and Thailand working within the field of abstraction who each use individually developed processes to explore aspects of colour, form, space and perception.

This exhibition compares differing approaches to the “building” or formation of artworks and presents a visual dialogue revealing subtle and at times unexpected interconnections and relationships between each artist’s practice. Insights are offered into each artists’ use of their chosen, or perhaps subconsciously ingrained, systems and methods to create work.

A rich diversity of influences and selected source materials seeks to expand the possibilities of abstraction, with direct threads linking into music/sound, architectural and social structures, pop culture, textiles, natural forms, the cosmos and everyday objects.

Abstraction offers positive resolutions in the works’ own existence in this space and time we find ourselves – in that it looks at existing social structures and offers new ways of thinking beyond commentary upon the many issues confronting us.

This exhibition follows on from the first iteration of Structured Visions shown at cbOne Gallery in Abbotsford, Melbourne, August 2023. This project is supported by the Government of Western Australia’s Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
