Insular

February 6th – 28th, 2026

The works in this exhibition are fragments of suburban exteriors and cladding. Typically received in a state of distraction, quotidian façade profiles are isolated as ready-made compositions and reconstructed with subtle interior modifications. In their everyday context, these materials function to insulate building interiors from the elements and to shield the minutiae of private domestic life from unwanted human observation. Displaced within the contained space of the studio, and later the gallery, context and utility are absent; their elemental geometry, tone, and surface conditions are foregrounded. The displacement and modification of a singular material element and composition proceeds on the principle that focus necessarily entails exclusion: peripheral visual information and overt personal expression are inhibited.
