Raymond Carter
Seven to Midnight
09.12.20 – 26.12.20
In his latest exhibition, “Seven to Midnight”, Raymond Carter continues his inquiry into the paintings of 1960’s Minimalism. The works within the show identify with the Minimalists’ bold deployment of shape, line, colour, and composition. Likewise, slight adjustments to the pictorial arrangements from one work to the next reflect the Minimalists’ appetite for repetition.
Noticeably, in “Seven to Midnight” the painted surfaces replaces cloth tape (a methodology Carter had carefully cultivated over a period of years), this is to, according to the artist, “find new ways for contemplative viewing of the work”
