During the lockdown in 2020, I began a series of drawings and paintings using a readymade stencil of a terrazzo print, intended for the creation a terrazzo pattern on interior walls. I found a space where having “rules” and restriction was liberating and rather than being a problem, the predetermined shapes and pattern supported a sense of play and experimentation. Riffing on the forms of what would be flecks of marble, quartz or stone in a traditional terrazzo floor, the process became a sort of meditative act and way to to travel inside; new territories are created and discovered.
