Michael Samuel Lucifer Vandorpe (1975) lives and works in Ghent, Belgium. Already in his early work the fascination for the linear visual language was dominant. Painting is an investigation into what the painter thinks is the essence of oil on canvas. Color, line and shape.
In the process, Michael Samuel Lucifer Vandorpe is looking for a simplified form language in which the landscape and the world around him are the main source of inspiration. The painting process germinates at the thought: the world in which we live, the things we see, the small, sometimes the everyday.

Colors are placed clean. The brushstrokes are calm and disappear into the background. The paint matter comes to life only as an accent. Pure pictoriality and harmony is pursued. Playing with complementary colors, applying transparent layers of paint. The painting game is performed more emphatically. In the paintings we read optimism, enthusiasm and joie de vivre.
