In Blüte In Bloom
13.03.19 – 30.03.19
Displacing textiles made to adorn bodies to adorn walls, In Blüte In Bloom explores the compositional structure of floral patterned textiles. When adorned on the body patterns are disrupted by the cut of the garment and the wearer’s form, distorting the history of its making. Returning the floral pattern to its original imitation of line on a two-dimensional surface, this body of work collapses the anonymity of technical production and repositions the material as a supplement to mass production.
Maxine’s practice explores the use, distribution, and signification of textiles within contemporary society and the implications of mass production. Maxine completed a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) at RMIT University in 2017.
